What then? ]Who makes jungle/hip-hop brilliance, but electricity-free? Though it's far from jungle, if you're looking for mad beats done totally live and with no electricity, check out any of the number of tabla players and their solos on classical indian music recordings (i.e. Ravi Shankar). It's also interesting that this isn't the first time I've had a reason to mention good old Ravi nor will it be the last -- he and his mates are very accomplished musicians. On one particular disc that I own "Live at the Monterey Pop Festival", the tabla solo is simply incredible: it sounds like 2 or 3 people all beating out various metamorphosizing rhythms, but it's (as expected of a `solo') done by one guy. .-------------------------------------------------------------------------. | nm: nickworthington | ml: nworth1@umbc.edu | .25grandizer1wrecktangle | |-------------------------------------------------------------------------| | http://www.gl.umbc.edu/~nworth1 | "Walk softly and carry a big spliff." | `-------------------------------------------------------------------------'
