Check this out: "Fresh Widow 3000 -Duchamp Net" http://www.val.net/%7Etim/duchamp-aug96.html very cool & inspiring indeed. something I thought was worth noting in light of the question on the need for things to be defined if they are to be enjoyed: my dog *loves* aphex. everytime I put on 'ventolin', the lil nipper, a chihuahua named Edgar, runs & stands right up next to one of the 15" woofer JBLs. of course, 'ventolin' is to be expected - but it seems that whenever I put on any aphex he either gets very playful or pays very close attention, tilting his baby's-fist sized head left and right to the music. sometimes I would swear that his tail wags metronomically. I note this now because my girlfriend and edgar have been watching 'eraserhead' for about an hour now - and the li'l guy loves it, is transfixed by Lynch's exquisitely crafted soundtrack. IDM - music for canines, as well as trainspotters. signifier over signified signing off
