Checking out the essential 'Just Landed' LP, and noticed track 4 'Worldwide Watchdog Peepshow' also appears on the Ninja Tune comp 'Funkungfusion' - listed from their forthcoming album on NTONE? Hmmmm... I assume they refer to the above album on Scape? Or did i miss something? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Talk to your friends online with Yahoo! I believe the Ninjas posted about this question a month or so ago. Early last year the Ninjas were given two projects from Burnt - the Just Landed and the Flanger albums. At the time of the release of Funkungfusion, they were uncertain which one they were going to release so they added a track from Just Landed but ended up releasing the Flanger album instead. But there is a recent (or forthcoming?) Nonplace Urban Field album called 'Plays Love Songs' out on Kiff sm. I dont have it yet but i've heard it's pretty good. Yet another Friedmann project to look out for... btw: after a month or so of listening, i wouldnt call the Just Landed album 'essential.' it continues to be a nice relaxing journey into dub but it's one of those relases you can listen to from start to finish and barely notice. -->-Lance--- lance@inaudible.com p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

And they're releasing Flanger's sequel of sorts, "Midnight Sounds" (also by Friedmann and Scmidt) in September.

Nope, not anymore - Kiff SM shut down last summer, so the album in once again labelless. Here's a short history of it: * recorded in 1997 & 1998 * announced for release on Dot in Aug/98 under the title "I've Got My Love To Keep Me Warm" * release delayed several times, and finally cancelled when Dot went on hiatus * title changed to "Frontier Planet Lounge" and annouced for release on Kiff SM in summer/99 * title changed again to "Plays Love Songs" and officially scheduled for August/99 release * Kiff SM shuts down just before the album is to be released * Burnt announces the name has changed again to the very fitting "Fucking Long Time", and is looking for a label to release it There are sound samples from the album (and more info about the delays) at http://user.cs.tu-berlin.de/~seher/BerndFriedmann/preview.html

Agreed. Nothing groundbreaking, just a nice and smooth dub record that is a pleasant listen. A different question re: the 'Just Landed' release. On Forced Exposure (www.fe.org) they say this in the blurb for the album:

gargantuan groove I don't suppose anyone knows who the other four players are? I'm guessing it might say who they are on the release itself, but (lo and behold) it hasn't reached NZ yet so I haven't seen it. Just curious given they're probably New Zealanders, and most likely include at least 2 of the members of now defunct Unitone Hi-fi. Thanks in advance, Michael np. rewound!!! :) not to spread FUD, but i've always assumed that Burnt has taken a page from his friend Uwe with the whole "Nu Dub Players" idea. meaning: it's just Burnt. i mean, the tounge-in-cheek copy on the back of the LP really doesn't give me any confidence that i'm listening to a real band. Crucial Guenther?! The Cousin of the Sausage Smearer?! it really is some funny stuff. i'd reprit some of it here, but it really reads better as a whole :P ------------ 1642 try 621 ------------ --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

correct.... the new Flanger record will be released later on this year. Bernd just sent me a stunning new Nonplace 12" that he'll be releasing on the newly formed Nonplace label. Incredibly funky techno with some massive Batucada breaks in one of the tracks (an Atom Heart remix). Jeff
