I have been going through the IDM archives from '93 and '94 (see some subsequent posts), and based on them, have a multitude of questions: Can anyone recommend: 1.A good compilation of Acid tracks. I haven't gotten much into this kind of "club" music (i.e. plastikman, etc.) and it sounds kinda interesting. 2.A compilation (or artist) of "epic" tracks. One good example (IMHO) is "Raincry" from the 2xCD Hardkiss compilation "delusions of grandeur" (which BTW is fantasic. An essential buy) - Theres a post here about getting a FFRR sampler CD by writing to ffrr1@aol.com. Anyone know if this address is still valid, or if not if theres another address/URL i could go to? - whatever happened to the techno.stanford.edeu archive. Moved? Gone? I've seena couple of posts that might suggests that it became hyperreal. any truth to this? - Anyone know if "the negro inside me" by barry adamson is availaable on CD anywhere (per recommendation by J Drukan sometime in early 1994) - From: Christian Bartholdsson <chris@Minsk.DoCS.UU.SE> Date: Wed, 2 Feb 94 16:10:27 +0100 Subject: More Underworld I did an interview with Underworld the other day and they told me some interesting things. [...] * Underworld and Orbital are currently recording songs together, possibly a whole album. Deadline by the end of this month. Did anything happen with this? did i miss a release? - Some artists/albums that i see thrown around the list but never really knew much about...comments/reviews would be appreciated: Seefeel Slowdive the Trance Atlantic/Trance Europe Express albums (namely, are they worth the $$$ and if so, which should i get) Locust (Is "Prospero" from Excursions in Ambience a good idea of what they do?) Oval Curve Renegade Soundwave LFO - Is underworlds "Rez" really all that and a bag o Doritos? - Anyone know anything about Jai Uttal? His name keeps coming up in my CDNow searches. - How is Higher Intelligence Agency - "Colourform" I see a review here in the archives saying its great. Any comments? - "Mercy, Mercy" by Little Wing on the aforementioned Hardkiss album is beautiful trancey folkey stuff with an acoustic guitar samplme which is strangely unobtrusive although its close to the front of the mix. Anyone have any other songs like this? - Anyone know anything about the Higher Intelligence Agency/Biosphere collaboration "Polar Sequences"? Supposedly it uses samples of ice crackling and stuff around the arctic circle. Sounds kinda..erm..well...cool :) - anyone have contact info for "Option" Magazine? URL perhaps? - is anything by the grid up to the bombness of "evolver"? - "papua new guinea"...essential purchase? - Anyone know the name of the font used on Sabres of paradise "Haunted dancehall" I guess thats it for now. Please respond to as many as possible...to the list if you feel its appropritae, but for most things i guess private e-mail should be better. Thanks a bunch in advance. Jeremy Meyers softlord@pobox.com http://www.pobox.com/~softlord/ P.S. I dont really think many people express what this list means to them. Ever since i got into IDM (starting with "Accidents in Paradise", "Strange Cargo III" and "tales from ephidrina" and moving on from there), the IDM list has been a constant source of amazement, amusement, and information for me. Without the list, i wouldn't have discovered half of the wonderful albums i own today. I would just like to personally thank each and every one of the many people that contribute daily to this list and make it my most eagerly anticipated e-mail daily. I love you guys!
