Re: Jesse's U2 idm message on his brother's E-mail address and the subsequent barrage of criticism that has ensued. I'd much read a heartfelt and justified opinion about a pop album with techno references on the IDM list than have to read one more damn trainspotting post (Hey, I get most of the references too, but I didn't have to be a supreme saddo and waste everyone's time with it) or read the attemptedly humorous responses to Aphex's questions about people's sexual preferences. (Was that IDM?) The whole point of this list, I thought, was to talk about music with IDM reference points, no matter how slim they might be. Isn't it important if a pop band is beginning to borrow from techno? Why doesn't anyone talk about what that means (although one person did talk about Flood, and people have talked about the subject in the past.) I know I'm attracted to IDM because its a music whose makers seem open-minded and experimental. What irony of its listeners aren't. Julie
