Here's one for yer - a flyer I received in the post this morning. It's for...
erm... a 'gig' at Liverpool Institute For Performing Arts on March 1st.
"AcidBrass
Jeremy Deller has enlisted the Stockport based Williams Fairey Brass Band
(currently rated no. 1) to play a selection of Acid House anthems. Both Acid
House and the brass band are great Northern traditions that have much in common,
culturally and musically, so the challenge of upfront rave material like 'What
Time Is Love' or the more ambient 'Voodoo Ray' being interpreted through the
sonic and emotional range of a brass band offers a challenging prospect for
ravers and brass enthusiasts alike.
Acid Brass will be released on CD in April on Blast First Records."
This is a real event. If anyone wants to go, it's at 8pm at LIPA on Sat March
1st. Costs a fiver or 2.50 with concessions.
Unfortunately I can't make it but if anyone else can, please tell all to the
list!!
(And that proves it! The Cleckheaton Methodist Brass Band DID invent techno...)
