You can only take SO much pHLANGing before ya blow.. ;-)
Happiness is a big box o' rekkids and cds (phd) that the postman
drops at yer door, and there are two releases that smacked
me forcefully on the noggin..
v/a - funktio 1: finnish techno collection (function)
(yeah...this is from sept., but I haven't heard a peep about this.)
Wow!!! An awesome treading of ground between Sahko-land,
laid back electronica & that Basic Channel/Chain Reaction thing..
3 Vainio traks, Kim Rapatti of Dum, Jouni Alkio (Aural Expansion
of Ssr remix-mania fame),... i already got the the first Function
release from Pineapple Circle so was familiar with that already...
some great tunes from function artists and 3 other trax from new
finnish (?) labels that kick just as much butt! Not a duff one in
the bunch.
Question though (probably Erkki'll grab this one): what's up
with these new finnish (?) labels:
Not For Production (artist Uranus)
Redshift (artist Redshift)
Vallila Trax (artist Jaljentamo)
(I can't get enough of dat sound....)
On a connected front, any information regarding Monrella that
did that excellent 12" for the Zet label?
Hokay!!
I think this one is just a tad more recent...
Second smack in the head comes from Acid Jesus/Alter Ego boys
with the Klang Elektronika comp, 'Freestyle Candies'.
First off, it comes beautifully packaged in a gouted 5" floppy disk
(cute :-) it would be beautiful if Cd's got packaged like this so you
could store them in your old 5" floppy storage containers and quickly
flip through them, especially as the way this is packaged it allows
the cd to live harm and scuffle free).
Second, it is a compilation consisting only of Flugel/Wuttke's works
under all their guises (Acid Jesus, Alter Ego, Roman Four, Sensorama,
Eight Miles High, Warp 69, Supreme Truth, RO70)
All have not failed to please the ears over the years, and this CD is
a sort of highlights package with it's licensing of their remixes as well
as them remixed, (like Black Dog's mix of Alter Ego's 'Tanks Ahead' and
the classic Global Communication mix of Warp 69's Natural High...
which no matter how many compilations it's put on I can never get tired
of it).
The Eight Miles High stuff was getting mighty praise not long back, being
on Mixmaster Morris's chart and such... (errgghhh..gotta hunt down the
second twelve meself..)
Another release that makes snogging my 909 less of an importance. ;-)
Just an individual who DOES buy all of RDJ's stuff (all Rephlex releases
for that matter..), yet hasn't bothered to post a single thing about
anything
related due to being more interested in hearing about the other 99.9% of
the electronic scene. :-D
(until the phlange/sex thing, of course)
