Blech! Stay away from the above album! Although the artwork is quality, the music isn't! Spend your money on the other two. However, nothing beats the first 3 GPR full-length releases: Temple Of Transparent Balls(The Dog) Basic Data Manipulation(The Hannant) The Four Cornered Room(The 7th Plain) quality through and through!

I couldn't disagree more! You should listen to that record if you get a chance, as obviously there are two camps here! It won't be for you if you aren't into a little dub, weird bleepy electronic noise and experimental jazz (Miles, '70-s Roach). The Hi-Ryze seems uninteresting compared to he Germ 2LP, IMO, though it is better than most of the stuff out there on a broader scale...

This is an incredible 2lp! Melodic, weird and groovy at even levels...

the 7th Plain I'd like to find, Hannant has never grabbed me though...

In general, the GPR stuff is of a totally consistently high quality; worth buying blindly if you don't expect to have any other opportunities later... solenoid@europa.com <------+

In regards to Germ - Parrot, just a mention that it has Nick Bullen of Scorn/Laswell collab. fame.. doin' a bit of bass on it. I think it sort of fits along the Scorn/Techno-Animal axis for those on that tip, as it has it's share of dark/brooding moments.. (and in general, I give it a thumbs up as well..)

Agreed!!! Here's a big YELL OF SEARCH out there Gpr-wise.... I am looking for the first eleven 12" releases on the label. Any chance of copies being out there either lying 'round a shop getting dusty, or someone wanting to clean out a bit of their collection?? And second GPR shout..... Anybody know what's up with that second SUNKINGS LP/CD that was mentioned waaaaaayyyy back? (my favorite of all GPR releases) John Quest ++Sex Magick, Designer Drugs & Machines that go PING!!++

I know that the HALL OF HEADS album was released, I don't think the second one ever made it. I could be wrong, however. The reason I replied to this is because at the time, I was compiling a discog. for GPR, and there had been rumours of a second Sunkings album at the time. It may have showed up on another label(Jumpin' & Pumpin'?) Oh, and HALL OF HEADS was on CD only...bummer! anyone wanna sell me that neato poster that came with TEMPLE OF TRANSPARENT BALLS? Sadly, my copy wasn't GPR (l)LP 1! Despite what Ken Downie had to say about the artwork for the album, I still want to display it in the studio! Derek http://www.ccd.cccoes.edu/~djordan

Did you finish this discog? Is it up anywhere? I'd love to know the address if there is a discog for GPR. -- Ben Coffer Hybrid Productions

No, actually it was a discog I was keeping on paper in the studio just in case someone wanted to know the titles of back catalog items. I think I still have an electronic version of it(written in MS Word 7.0 for windows), and a paper copy of it, if anyone is interested. I just don't have any time to keep up with all the labels anymore. Derek
