The deal with realaudio is its ability (the server that is) to "stream"
data over the net. Unlike a .wav files where you have to download the
whole file before playing, real audio (and better yet audio active) can
play while downloading.

streaming data is faster. but the best program BY FAR is audio active
(www.audioactive.com) which plays mp3 files, and live audio feeds which
over a 28.8 come in in stereo, plus you can check out a cleveland college
radio station which has a few good IDM type shows on it.
