<fontfamily><param>Times New Roman</param><bigger>Here are two
outstanding CDs I picked up yesterday...
Ian O'Brien: Desert Scores CD (Ferox)
Two of my favorite 12"s of last year were Ian's "Intelligent Desert"
and
"Monkey Jazz" ep on Ferox. So I was eagerly awaiting this lp and it did
not disappoint. Beautiful jazz-flavored techno ranging in speeds from
down-tempo to d&b often sounding like an amalgamation of Dan Curtin,
Underground Resistance and Black Dog Productions. It will be difficult
to knock this release out of my top 5 of '97.
Kompakt 1: v/a CD (Profan)
Those familiar with Mike Ink's recent work will know what to expect
here.
Thirteen minimal techno tracks taken from a dozen 12"s on his Profan
label.
Tracks are by M:I:5, Sweet Reinhart, Gas, Guinterman to name a few. If
you
like the Studio 1 releases, this comp will definitely be to your liking;
it is to
mine.
