Well it seems all the mainstream press are getting on the electronia
bandwagon.
There was an article in the Sunday Inquirer called "Just how live is
electronica's wire?" Actually it's a pretty poor article by the
Philadelphia Inquirer's music critic Tom Moon. There is an accompanying
article which lists classic examples of electronic dance music or
"classics of the genre" as the article states.
Kraftwerk - TEX
Brian Eno - Music for Airports
Steve Reich - Music for 18 musicians
Aphex Twin - SAW I & II
BT - Ima
FSOL - Dead Cities
Chemical Brothers - Setting Sun
TEK 9 - It's not what you think it is!?
Goldie - Timeless
LTJ Bukem presents - Logical Progressions
The article talks about MTV's AMP and the singles by Bowie and U2, both
of whom the writer calls "trend chasers" rather than trend setters.
A bit from one of the paragraphs ...there is a budding industry of people
- artists, managers, record executives who think electronica (jungle,
techno, ambient techno, drums and bass, the list of sub genres goes on)
is the new frontier... Oh Oh!
