man, i love that movie. i think you have to have an appreciation for and a bit of back knowledge about the monkees to fully appreciate it and what it's trying to say, though. i would venture to say that the three worst movies i have ever seen are: 1. bottle rocket (done by film students at my school; i would have walked out on the free screening (making it the first movie i would have ever walked out on) but the directors were there, so i sat through the whole blasted thing) 2. psych-out (i think that's what it's called - 1969 movie with jack nicholson, don't get me wrong, i love movies from this period, but much of this film was stinky) 3. the valley of the dolls (i rented the wrong one; *beyond* ~ is the one that roger ebert wrote, right?) anyway, the book was so much more entertaining and i can't forget how bad the scores of 80's tit-exploitation (oh, i mean teen-exploitation) films i watched in junior high on pirated hbo were - kinda ambient, kinda idm content: speaking of ian pulley, is he a part of pino & wildjammin (whole traffic, ms-series, etc.)? i was told this by a friend and i just want to know for sure, cuz i love his/their/whatever fax stuff. as for u-ziq, urmar bile trax or whatever is ending up grabbing my attention as much as, oh, that red ep with the hockey player on it did - not much. i notice neat little things in it here and there, but something about it just doesn't click with me (maybe it's the bass that's mixed waaaaay too loud?) *shrug* .j. --- joanna@hardcorps.org www.in.flux.update.fnord.mode.com.org.edu - The human race is faced with a cruel choice: work or daytime television. -Unknown

Ebert wrote _Beyond the Valley of the Dolls_, including the infamous decapitation scene. THEN he had the gall to spend his reviewing career crusading against shoddily-scripted cinematic violence. hypocritical? methinks so... if you want the worst movies celluloid can buy, look for these names on the box: Juan Piquer Simon Andy Milligan Fred Olen Ray (though he has his moments) Jim Wynorski (ditto) Don Farmer Ted V. Mikels file under: filmic excreta. or, as Saint Joe Bob of Briggs would say... "dog doo."

doubtful. Ian Pooley on FAX? Ian's had a zillion aliases over the years, but FAX doesn't seem like it would be his cup of tea. neither does Cup of Tea... but that's neither here nor there. and neither am i later- G2-G4 rawkin' the theme music to "King of the Hill" on da bass.

You're goofy. Bottle Rocket was great -- I even bought the laserdisc. -- ::: Lazlo (lazlo@swcp.com; http://www.swcp.com/lazlo)
