I've gathered together some URls for my own research purposes. Here's an initial list of the stuff I've got so far, maybe someone could give some additions...? The History of electronic music in general: * http://www.ief.u-psud.fr/~thierry/history/history.html - A Brief History of Electronic Music Instruments by Thierry Rochebois * http://bbs.online.discovery.com/cgi-bin/push?/DCO/doc/1012/world/ technology/emusic/emusicopener.sp - Discovery Channel: The History of Electronic Music</a><br> * http://www.emf.org/index.html - Electronic Music Foundation http://music.dartmouth.edu/~wowem/electronmedia/music/eamhistory.html - History of Electronic and Computer Music * http://www.obsolete.com/120_years/ - 120 Years of Electronic Music * http://www.synthmuseum.com/index.html - The Virtual Synthesizer Museum Theremin, one of the earliest electronic instruments: * http://www.Nashville.Net/~theremin - The Theremin Home Page * http://www.he.net/~enternet/teci/bible/bible.htm - Theremin Bible * http://arts.ucsc.edu/EMS/Music/music/landmarks/theremin.html - Leon Theremin Some composers, maybe not so electronic but had an important part in the development of genre: * http://newalbion.com/artists/cagej/John Cage * http://picasso.cslab.wesleyan.edu/~jfei/varese/ - Edgard Varese Some pages dedicated to Robert Moog, who was developing the modern synthesizer as we know it: * http://www.e-commerce.com/Shift/reverb/theremin/play.html - Robert Moog's Theremin Lesson * http://www.dd.chalmers.se/~f93mari/moog.html - Robert A. Moog * http://arts.ucsc.edu/EMS/Music/music/landmarks/moog.html - Links to Robert Moog Resources * http://www.moogmusic.com/ - Moog Music Online Finally - techno, house etc. as we know them: * http://www1.tip.nl/users/t069315/page04a.html - Confused with all these genres like techno, house, drum 'n' bass, trip hop et al.? This page should give you some pointers to which is which... * http://www.hyperreal.com/music/genres/ - The Genre Page @ Hyperreal * http://music.city.de/wicked/electro/electro.htm - Introduction to Electro * http://www.southern.com/MMM/ - Mixmaster Morris' page should also give some general info There must be loads of more, but I didn't get those in my hands now. Hope these are at least of some help. ekku the maintainer of pHinnWeb - everything u ever wanted to know about Finnish techno scene but were too afraid of the reindeer trerra@uta.fi | http://www.uta.fi/~trerra | http://www.sci.fi/~phinnweb things aren't too clear and the more i see things disappear momentarily
