Yeah arent manic episodes great though, theres nothing like listening to someone diggin themself an early grave with bleeding fingers. When that fucker explodes i want it on CD.

This petty bickering about the merits of the new RDJ album is taking on the tone of Holy War. Some of the devoted hear the music as if it came directly from the Synth of Jehovah and is beyond reproach. ("Heretics!" they say, "Open up your hearts and minds, repent, repent and ye shall be saved!"). "It sucks" "It's great" They are both right. Reasonable people will differ on matters of taste. Personally, I'm indifferent. I sold SAW2 and post-"On" material a while back because it occured to me that I was indifferent. I plan to hang on to the previous material, and will be eager to buy a compilation of the Joyrex EPs if one is released. What I like about the earlier material is the churning energy; that aspect is muted lately, replaced in part with the unfocused energy of a manic episode. What someone thinks of RDJ's more recent output, or anything else, should not affect your life or offend your sensibilities one bit. Just read what listmembers have to say, and before long you will find out whose tastes are close to yours. Then you will find people who steer you toward more music you enjoy, and vice-versa. When this richard@afx.idiscover.com (or whatever) insulted those who prefer Orbital over Squarepusher, I responded privately that my problem with Squarepusher was too much chaos vs. abstract/alien. Not because I don't get it (wrap your head around a late Nancarrow Study for Player Piano and then get back to me), or because it's too noisy (Merzbow and Throbbing Gristle, anyone?). It just doesn't harmonize with my brainwaves.
