Uwe Schmidt aka Atom Heart, the man behind Lassigue Bendthaus, has
released a proverbial ton of other material. Unfortunately a lot of it is
very hard to find -- on POD and FAX. _Repetitive Digital Noise_ by "I" is
about as crisp, digital and minimalistic as it comes (on POD, good luck).
_Tinned Music_ by "I" is easier to find, recently (re?-)issued in the UK,
but it's not as good IMO. Several tracks from _Render_ are recast as
epic, multilayered acid mixes on _Render: Audible_, also on Kk. It's a
personal favorite. If you find _VSVN_ just snap it up immediately.
The bulk of his material the last two years has been released on his own
Rather Interesting label (basically part of FAX). There, again, most of
the releases are out of print but some pop up now and again. Rhythms on
releases in the last year or so are mostly fragmented--polymetric,
quantized to 5:4, or 60% swing, etc. I think this works best on _Brown_
(which should still be available) -- think of Alec Empire's _Hypermodern
Jazz 2000.5_ but crisper and bordering on the academic. _Mono Trademark_
works almost as well, ranging from straight 4/4 electro rhythms to slow
percussion without any apparent rhythmic scheme (whether polymeter,
polyrhythm, two-tempo canon or anything else). I could tell you good
things about other releases as well, but they do not resemble what you say
you are trying to find.
You might also look for _Cloned_ by Lassigue Bendthaus, available in the
States from Metropolis. _Cloned_ is less synth-pop than _Render_, more
electro- industrial -- and, as such, probably more in the spirit of Clock
DVA.
