You have got to love those silly vocoders and the first bass-pulse in _man made_ (from their self-titled album). This bass-pulse might even be one of the best electro-tunes I've ever heard. The album, though being old and grey by now, still gets some playtime in my house, especially _man made_, _techno trax_, _street claps_ (or whatever it's called, I do not have the damn thing on me) and _heatstroke_ (preferably without the diva-vocals). dv8

And I am still amazed at the production on Hip Hop Be Bop, which stands out in a club set next to any techno you care to name. On Now? The Phonic Socks - u-Ziq

it's long been one of my favorites...was fortunate enough to pick up the re-release w/ updated remixes in the late 80s (which i've never seen since). Other old time faves: DST, Strafe's "Set it Off" (recently re-released for the movie w/ same name), Harlequin 4's "Set it off" (which is better than Strafe's & has female vocals by Judy Cheeks, but i've never seen another copy since buying it 15 years ago...), ....not to mention the often-mentioned "Rock it", Kraftwerk, "Jam on it", et al.... Didn't someone mention a good CD comp. that featured this stuff (full length versions, not those namby pamby comp's that feature radio edits)...
