I would also like to say, however, that there seems to be a real
splitting of hairs in the discussion regarding your comments. You seem
to think that the people who responded to your post about techno are
talking about something fundamentally different if they mention IDM as
germane to their arguments. Is this the case, are you talking about
techno as a sub-genre of electronic music, separate from IDM? If so, I
think there are many who would view IDM as a sub-genre of Techno.
That's the way I've always seen it--IDM as the cream of techno--not so
much a difference in style as a qualitative distinction.
