D'Arcangelo: D'Arcangelo Rephlex CAT 039 CD 6 tracks, 30:05 1. Somewhere In Time 2. Ro-hn 3. Skrakt 4. Diagram XI 5. Diagram VII - Milk mx 6. Diagram VII - 80's mx I purchased this EP last night, and it's an interesting release. Schizophrenic even. The first three tracks are massively clanky, noisy affairs, not unlike a certain multi-aliased artist we all know and love. "Ro-hn" especially sounds like it could have come right off _I_Care_, while "Skrakt" could easily pass for a track from "AB4." However, the last three tracks are anonymous synthy 80s-style dance tracks, quietly nostalgic but not anything really special. I must say that I was rather jolted by the difference between tracks 3 and 4 while listening to this. It's really like two completely different artists, and while I wish I could say that the last three songs here as engaging as the first three, the truth is otherwise. Comes in a funky "Laserfile" package with a sticker on the back. I'm worried about scratching the CD every time I pull it out. heheh Well I don't think he first track is much like him, but the other 2 I would say are.

huh I thought Diagram XI was really wonderful track.. but the rest, as you said, aren't that special.

As a whole, the D'Arcangelo EP is excellent. It reminded me of 'Industrial Folk Songs' by Cylob. ...and if I can recall, I remember it sounded pretty much like 'Analogue Bubblebath 3' where the tracks were changing and it challenged many barriers. I find nothing wrong with any of the tracks. I think it is a clever idea to change it up up a bit. Why have a record that is completely distorted? Variety is good! I look forward to more from these guys. 10/10

Adam, I actually fealt the other way around, I really liked the last three tracks. Yeah they were poppy and a bit cheezy but they were very emotive. The first three tracks on the other hand, I found to be a bit on the pointless side. ROB
