Probably won't have to worry about the death of the universe for trillions of trillions of trillions of trillions of trillions of trillions of years, according to current calculations. Of course, this leaves plenty of time to trainspot between now and then. And by then, we will have either choked in our own refuse or have created baby universes in which we can buy more records. ObIDM: I have a copy of the u-ziq phi 1700 *cd* (not 12", sorry) that I would love to trade for something a little less acidic and more in the direction of skam-esque electronica. Just drop me a line (polygon@jhu.edu). BTW, no offers for any Orbital will be accepted, hehe. Love and kisses, Alex

Getting way off topic, if you are intersted in how the universe may or may not end, I would suggest _The Last Three Minutes_, by Paul Davies. It's pretty short, about 120 pages or so, and it's accessible to anybody, meaning you don't need a science background, and there's no math either. I read it over the holidays and really liked it. obidm: I was listening to the radio this week, and I heard Aphex Twin's Milkman played at 45. It was definitely jungle. Now, I've been playing my at 33 since I've got it. The discog times in gonzi's site seem to indicate 45 would be the proper time. (Yes, I did time it.) Anybody have any thoughts or opinions on the proper speed. Personally, I'm sticking with 33. Phil Downey np: Mind over rhythm... ps. Jon drukman, you forgot to tell us how much you hate rdj too. ;)

again, getting WAY off topic hehe, this person should worry more about the meteors in abrupt orbit around Earth right now.

The correct speed is undoubtedly 45. I have it both on vinyl and on CD. But when you have a record, is there really a correct speed? :) When I read this, I immediately grabbed the record to listen to it at 33. :D I believe I like it better at 45, but I suppose if you are mixing some ambient slow ambient I guess it's possible to put this in there somehow at around that speed without it sounding too bad. Anything's possible. it's not typical jungle, but it's more like the experimental drum&bass from his older ep's Hangable Auto Bulb I and II. -- Hillie aka Aurafix / DAMONES hillien kotisivu - http://www.clark.net/pub/buh/index.html easy internet services - http://huizen.dds.nl/~eis Do re mi fa so la ti.. I played my Girl/Boy EP on 33 for aaages until I bought the album and realised it was the wrong speed...I thought inkey$ was the best thing I'd heard him do in ages....now I realise it's just some tinny fast thing....it kicks ass on 33. -- Ben Coffer Hybrid Productions

You know I was playing it at 33 for the first month or so... until I heard it on cd. I'm 'used to it' at 45 now but I think it sounds pretty damn funky at 33. Vocals are more twisted too. Howie

ah, right up my alley, this one. Bassbin Twins (aka Peter Tall, Peter Hauser) does all his own stuff on white labels. he's a great guy and a real believer in DIY. we are planning some kind of Bassbin Twins/Bass Kittens soundclash, probably later this year.

well of course there is the ever popular Bass Kittens. http://www.cyborganic.com/bass-kittens. debut album due end of Jan/early Feb... firm dates when i get them. also check out anything by Omar Santana (Oh-Zone, Tricked Out Records, Dark Side Of The Shroom, izard of Oh, Hard Hop Heathen). he's great. i found a neat double-CD mix thingie called "coastal breaks" that would probably fit your bill nicely. cmac@txdirect.net wrote:

and i suppose you have insight into trent reznor's mind that proves this beyond a shadow of a doubt? or are you just indulging in trendy elitism/bashing? a good friend/music partner of mine is working for Nine Inch Nails and he says trent really digs jungle. he put a lot of effort into the breaks on "perfect drug". they were played by his drummer and then tweaked and mangled with the sound processing gear. you may not like the results but to say that it's an "ill faith attempt" is just plain speaking out of ignorance. oh come on, you won't pay $200 for a TWO 303's and an 808? where else are you going to find that sort of price on that gear? i'm first in line, wallet in hand, when they release the final version of the product.
