Experimentation for the sake of it can sometimes work, most of the time it falls flat on its arse, usually whilst trying to go up said orifice. Just because something is innovative doesn't mean that its good - otherwise we'd all be reading _The Wire_ and stroking our collective beards at the lastest Staalplaat 5xCD set. Don't get me wrong - I like innovation. But then I also like Chicago house.

<SPLEEN VENT> Don't worry Kent - the FM writers look like twits themselves. It goes with the mag I think. Some of the most clueless reviews of current releases can be found in their 'review' section. </SPLEEN VENT>

Harsher, _SAW2_ sounds without the warmth. Disjecta doesn't really do it for me. But if you dig that style then you'll like it. Lots of IDMers do.

Or alternatively, someone with better taste...?

Okay - I'll go with that one.

Yeah, Geordans got an individual, wicked sound.

Dark gloomy distorted trip-hop stuff. Left me cold but Helen can now tell you how good it is.

1. _Phi_ (emotional xylophone brilliance) 2. _Paco_ (Distort-O-Funk cheekiness) 3. _Crosstown Traffic_ (or _Glink_ - they're the same track) 4. _Xolbe II_ (distant beaty ambience - longtime CiM fave) Cheerio folks! || [CiM] || simonw@ftp.com || http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Alley/4492/
