Hello, intelligent dance marathoners: Does any kind soul have an e-text track listing of the Blechsdottir thingy? That annoying blob of a run-on sentence on the back of the compacter disc is ruining my vision, not to mention the killing lack of track numbers. Really, who even knows if the tracks are listed in order? In fact, how do we know that these artists had anything to do with this record? In fact, how do we know this is music? It's all a plot! Don't trust anyone over 30! Oh, damn! Sorry. Any help, psychological or otherwise, will be rewarded in kind. 3 P.S. Does anyone else believe this otherwise charmingly offbeat yet beatful record could be dramatically improved by the near-absolute removal of all vox samples and drunken oafish audience noize? I mean, really, what is that guy going on about?

You bet! If you have a Mac with newest Speech Manager, go into TeachText, type some stuff, go to the speech menu, pick your voice (whisper is my favorite) and wail away. michael -- How Television Works o \/ Sense #|_ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~(_| Data ___umsimla0@cc.umanitoba.ca _###\.____________| |___________________|

Two friends and I were working on some 'industrial drum+bass' when we wanted to use a computerized diva wailing behind a dirty synth wash for a few good laughs. We recorded some of the voices from the Macintosh Text-to-Speech thing. Sad thing is, it sounded like some Aphex Twin tracks, so we scrapped the idea. Try spelling words differently, add colorful punctuation, and put words in caps. You'll [usually] get something different with each change. Grant.

Zenon, it seems I have overvalued your capabilities of abstraction. ;) Take the "40xx.x" numbers before the tracks, replace "40" by " " and there you go. A ".5" suffix means that this track is mixed into the underlying ".0" track but does not appear as its own track number on your cd player. Same with a ".25" suffix. Had you thought the Reasonable People wanted to confuse you? Happy tracktracking, --tom

Or perhaps my visual resolution after 12 hours at the computer screen and four more of MIDI tweaking? No, right, it's the abstraction thing.

Yes, I had. I really thought it was all a plot. I was beginning to think that the Cold War was beginning again, that perhaps greenish England was no more, and that the Aphex Twin had been secretly replaced by a Thompson Twin. That's when panic set in. Rather than screaming and running and smashing my favorite slot machine (thanks again, David, for the fab quote, won't even mention the obscene gesture in the GQ photo), as one would do in the late 70s, I simply sent my despairing plea to the idm list, which promply did away with my fears, not to mention any pretensions to powers of abstraction! Thanks, all - 3
