With all the recent non-informative traffic, I though I drop a few interesting nuggets of IDM knowledge upon you all. Two things of interest here: 1. I'm sure you all remember Silent Records, the west- coast label/distributer known for its darker ambient releases. Well, I guess Kim Cascone has left that organization and took the dark ambient with him. Now Silent seems to be heading in a better direction. I just found out that Silent will be releasing a 2xCD Skam compilation of tracks culled from all the Skam 12"s plus two previously unreleased tracks: an Autechre remix of Jega and a Gescom remix of Bola. This comp is slated to be released sometime in the spring. This is all I know about this release. I do not have the track listing. If I get it I will post it. Please don't flood my mailbox with questions about this comp. The info above is all I know. 2. Fans of the Leaf label will have a few new releases to get this spring as well. There will be a Twisted Science lp/CD as well as the third volume of the Invisible Soundtracks 12"s. I've been told that the star of this third volume is Boston native DJ Sick. DJ Sick was also just courted by the Blue Angel label to release a 12" and if you're familiar with the Blue Angel style, you'll know what to expect. Is that enough OBIDM for one post? -->-Lance--- p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

the next two Leaf titles will be (this direct from Leafmeister, Tony Morley) DOCK 7 - Sons Of Silence - 'Spring Forward, Fall Back' EP - March 3 (also on CD w/DOCK 6! - (the great "Suited & Booted" EP) DOCK 8 - Twisted Science - EP - March 17th DOCK 9 - ...? the first Twisted Science album, _Mock Industrial Noisebox_, will be a joint release by Leaf and Lo Recordings. i've given Tony a list of several dozen potential I/S contributors, and hopefully a few will show up on future volumes of the REEL 12" series. i do know for a fact that Bern'd Friedmann has completed a track for an upcoming _Invisible Soundtracks_ volume. so keep your eyes and ears open for that one. meanwhile revel in the joys of NUF's fantastic _Golden Star_ (incoming!) - an album-and-remix-album all in one. featuring new Friedmann material as well as sensational versions by the Solid Doctor, Muslimgauze, Porter Ricks (Koner and Melwig are becoming names synonymous with 'genius' of late), Pluramon (Markus Schmickler and ...perhaps... various Oval/MoM/Can members), Scanner, and Friedmann himself. really essential gear. ALL incoming! releases are. if any knows how Tony can get in touch with Porter Ricks, Manuel Gottsching, and Moritz Von Oswald, please let me know. i'll forward the information. wouldn't that be da bomb? ;-) guerillaG2-G4/ np: ra-x - ministek 12

this spring is looking pretty exciting indeed. i look forward to more leaf releases, but i'm not sure i understand the whole invisible soundtracks idea. i never heard volume one, but i listened to a friend's copy of volume two and it sounded silly compared to the proper leaf releases i own (luger and witchman, thanks sean). i assume, based on those releases, that leaf puts out lots of first-rate drumnbass. so why bother with compilations of second rate non-d&b crap? was volume two just a disappointing follow up or do they both suck? matt
