I've heard Neuropolitique mentioned a number of times, but have always wondered what the tunes sound like. Is it more on the ambient tip, or am I missing out on some dope beats as well? Just curious... GD

Not an ambient track on any of Matt Cogger's three full length releases. Matt learned much of his style & production techniques in '89 as a part-time engineer at Transmant records with Derrick May, Juan Atkins & Kevin Saunderson. So, beat heavy detroit influenced techno would be a good description for most of the Neuropolitique material. A brief discography: • Neuropolitique: Artemis 12" (ART) 1993 • Neuropolitique 12" (Irdial 43) 1994 • Neuropolitique: Menage a Trois lp/cd (Irdial) 1994 • Neuropolitique: Are You Now or Have You Ever Been? lp/cd (New Electronica) 1995 • Neuropolitique: Nomenclature 4xlp/2xcd (New Electronica) 1996 Hope that helps! -->-Lance---

This may have already been discussed. Just got the two cd set of Neuropolitique's works over the past few years "Nomenclature". I dont generally like Detroit stuff but this is really growing on me - espec. the stuff that shifts into a more IDM vein. Its on New Electronica which might give some people an idea of what it is like. I should perhaps also say it only cost me six quid, had it been seventeen as orginally marked I might feel less inclined over its greatness. Have enjoyed playing Dune 2 to it though while swinging to the beat of a monkeys feet. r

Could you post a tracklisting? Or rather: how much of this album is already on 'Are you now or have you ever been?' TIA, Otto

Is Fusion Neu on this? One of my favourite tracks. On Now? Roller - Global Goon

I can't place that soundbite either on the Manning title but one of the other new Irdial titles I've been enjoying the dickens out of is the new cd by Dilemma called "Chip Tunes." Seven tracks of delightfully quirky electronica sounding quite similar to last year's Mariopaint release with a little more depth. Much more engaging that the chaos of the new Beautyon or the verbial hypnosis of The Conet Project. BTW: Anybody have a source for older Irdial product? If so please e-mail me privately. -->-Lance--- p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

Speaking of Irdial, I have a brand new copy of Neuropolitique's _Menage a Trois_ for sale to anyone who wants it. Alternatively, somebody could explain to me the appeal of this album. :) Thanks. -arjun

That is actually my least favorite Neuropolitique album. I much prefer Are We Now or Have We Ever Been or the 2xcd Nomenclature. You should listen to the two albums i just mentioned before you pass judgement on Matt Cogger. He is a real maestro at unique detroitesque techno. -->-Lance--- p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states
