out????!!! well i have only played it twice. i found it second hand yesterday in vinyl exchange, manchester on cd for 2 pounds. it is 4 tracks clocking in at 35 minutes. the tracks are as follows: 902 quarter 9mins 43 this track starts with a bent bass note quite brassy sounds w/ a found sound hi hat ticking along, a nice slow beat comes in and the thing builds and distorts, the a voice off a record is scratched and mixed over then a piano very much like the 2nd keynell remix gently opens the track out. the are scratchy noises throughout the whole e.p. this is a mad beautiful track. it could easily be another part of key nell. strings come up half way through overlaid with a delicate little tune. as it leaves the piano disappears so that it is strings and a beat//scratches. autechre and gescom have become one and the same.. latent quarter 7 mins 37 this is a bit menacince to begin with. that barking dog sound they like punches under the surface and more brassy sounds build up to a big/stomping/raging this is how we like it massive beasty of a track. just try and not at least nod yr head when this gets going. a floaty little melody graces the top of this cake. who ate all the pies? THEY DID!!!!!!!!!! there is a sample in this track that is driving me mad. i cant place it...that organ sound..anyone??. that track bracks down with scratchy sounds and an organ sample before stomping like a happy giant back in. the melody changes instrumentation and tune. rising notes coming from the middle somewhere...at the end this rising over a slow strange arrpegio of pedal bass notes is all that is left laughing quarter 7 mins 05 what a beginning THEY are HERE. another storming OH MY GOD kind a thing. the beats are instantly Ae as we know them but the whole thig has a BYTES kind of feel if a little more distorted. hissing rhythm washes through. NO PRISONERS HERE. they have all been taken. to end the beat takes over just a cycle of big electrodrum excellence. draun quarter 10 mins 50 along with the 1st track this has to be my favorite. that piano is back the pace is a medium setting though the piano just floats along not looping but going wherever it needs to. big pads underscore the arrangement. there is a very enoish quality here. if i were driving at night this is the music i would want my highway to take. genius. IMHO the best track they have done since flutter the whole ep is much more song like than recent output. i hope the keynell mixes have started something which they will continue with. this ep has all the mystery an d lyricism of incunabula. you know that what the hell was that unfathomable, fluid, beauty. when we saw Ae at the skam party a while back there was no hint of this. this is immense. i hope chiastic slide can measure up. this is a biggie. peace john on now: draun quarter ,(what else) :)
