My opinion on the second installment of Amp: It covers the bases! Spoiler alert... you might not want to read further if you taped the show, and don't want to find out what surprise lurks toward the end... They threw in a 1 - 1.5 minute video compilation, featuring, of all people, Kraftwerk, and Egyptian Lover!!!!!!! Showcased some people breakdancing back in the day. Since I wasn't much into MTV back then (nothing's changed :), I couldn't tell if they were legitimate videos, or just random outtakes of people breakin it down. At any rate, my eyes just about popped out of my socket when I thought they'd be showing a Kraftwerk video there! Kudos for the easter egg! So, who's the spy from MTV lurking on IDM taking the discussions here and turning them into a TV show? :-) -- guyjr@ns.gt.ed.net | I.D.M.- That stage in sleeping when your feet are a.k.a., Guy Elden, Jr. | moving faster than your eyes.

I do recall in the late 80s several times catching Kraftwerk on MTV, specifically, right after "Electric Cafe" was released. I seem to remember a groovy computer-generated wireframe version of Kraftwerk jamming on "Musique Non-Stop", but it might have all been a dream. 3

They need to get the titles worked out. The Fluke video looked like it was directed by the Designers Republic Crew. They repeated 3 videos (why?). But if this is going to be on every week, it's the shit. The MTV site was finally updated tonite with this weeks schedule (a bit late) so i assume they're working on other stuff, like adding AMP/Loveline/Idiot whatever info to their page. Requests: 1. Donkey R. 2. Halcyon 3. More Egyptian Lover 4. Blue Room 5. The infamous Blech girl donkey film (ucensored version) XOXXOXOXOX, _____ / ,-,_) /,_) (/ RESH Live & Direct from the G-Spot, Orange County, California, USA

Well, it's certainly still better than anything else on that horrid station, but the second edition was more problematic: (1) Edited videos The FSOL "My Kingdom" video and the Ken Ishii "Extra" (repeated) video were both cut/edited. This is heresy! Show it all or don't show it. Like we'd really miss 2 of those wretched interminable commercials. Do *not* cut/edit the videos, please. (2) Repeated videos I don't mind the Ken Ishii (modulo (1) above), but what, "Cowgirl" again? "The Box" again? (Even if it's really cool) (3) Timing botched titles No, that's not The Prodigy, it's C.J. Bolland. (4) Cock teasing Don't *EVER* play 20 seconds of "Pocket Calculator" without letting it play all the way through ever again!!! AUGGGGGH! That's like the prostitute pulling off and saying "Oh, you want to ORGASM! Another $100." And if you're gonna show 10 seconds of Bambaataa & "Planet Rock" (who thought they saw The Egyptian Lover? I musta blinked), make it the whole shebang, please. (5) Bristol overdose We're getting into subjective arguments at this point, but I really can't see Tricky/Massive Attack/Nearly God (N.G. shown on the M2 teaser right after AMP) as being anything other than slightly evolved Old Music. One video per episode max, please. (6) Vocals - just say no Besides "My Kingdom" and "The Box", most of the other videos had prominent vocals in them. This isn't representative of our culture; this is "let's lure 'em in with crossover appeal". (Vocal stuff - Prodigy, C.J. Bolland, Tricky, Underworld, Massive Attack, Fluke; am I forgetting anyone ... ) I still support the idea of AMP 100%, but please strive to keep up the quality of the first show (original edition; incl. FSOL's "Amoeba"), AMP folks. - Greg

Yes, I was forgetting Chemical Brothers ("Setting Sun", more vocals) ... (although that video's a lot better than the "Life Is Sweet" one) - Greg

That was not Egyptian Lover, that was Affrika Bambatta, the song was Planet Rock. Just thought I would clear it up. Derek
