Yeh, hats off to the ear-mission.
I'm waiting on another substantial order of Christmas self- and other-gifts
from the irrationalsource currently.
Support this place:
The prices and selection are great - especially on FAX and so on.
And Dave is very into the music himself, so is an excellent source of info,
and keeps up with all the latest releases.
Better than digging through the trash at Tower and HMV to find the misfiled
(and probably accidently ordered, assumed to be rapgrunge) copy of
"Hallucination Engine".
Which reminds me of a story (God help us):
One day, thought I was one lucky f--K, tripping through the aisles at HMV,
stumbled upon a section labeled ambient/techno. There I found a few Silent
comps, some Irresistible Force full-lengths, a marked-down copy of
"Psychonavigation", some completely inappropriate acid-jazz things, both of
the Aritificial Intelligence CDs, a few "Secret Life of Trance" vols, and
so on. I grabbed the weirdest things I could find, a major stack of
plastic to replace the meltage off the credit card.
Dropped the bomb in front of the cashier, causing her eyes to alight with
interest and barely suppressed longing. And then she looked at the CDs
(ba-dum-dum):
"Wow!
Somebody's finally buying all this stuff!
It's been sitting there forever!
I thought nobody liked this music!
It's so cool that you're into it!
<Pause>
<Wait for it>
.
.
What is it anyway?"
