As I understand it, DR are not just publishing a load of past work, but they're doing 'remixes' and stuff specially for the book which is why they need some time to work on it. Just for the record... personal DR faves of mine are: Age Of Chance - 'One Thousand Years Of Trouble' album sleeve (shite record though...) various - 'Blechsdottir' CD sleeve (this one we all know and love) Krush - 'House Arrest' 12" single sleeve (early Brit-House. Top stuff.) Junk - 'Messiahs Of The Pop Raunch' 12" single sleeve (bollocks country rock from Yorkshire) 3D Sissy poster (the cute Sissy icon as featured on Blechsdottir, but rendered in 3D. Fucking great) I've just remembered though... there's a huge wedge of a book called 'Localizer 1.0' which is about the European techno scene, and it features all sorts of articles, designs and stuff connected to labels, fashion designers, design agencies etc. It was published last autumn and it's got quite a number of DR and WARP pages - about a third of the book's in English, rest in German, but it's dead glossy and lovely. Some of the history's a bit suspect and it's very Germany-centric, but worth getting if you can a) find it, and b) afford it. Actually, I could go on for ages so I'll pack it in now. Black Dog Productions - 'bytes' RDJ - 'on' and 'ventolin' Jake Slazenger - 'das ist ein...' & 'nautilius' b12 - 'time tourist' speedy j - gspot I can't remember, but I think they did the whole 'AI' series. others: Sun Electric - all Speed Jack - Surge YMO - 'technodon mixes II' TIME recordings - all ORB - all before 'pomme fritz' I know there's quite a few more I've forgot about! Designers Republic is the shit! Related to this is the fact that I've always loved psygnosis...Those guys have always been on the top of my list! I've been a strong supporter all the way back in the good old Amiga days (RIP;-). Like Warp, they always had pretty good taste in music (except for some of the early stuff!) and the smarts to go with DR designs. Plus their games are the best! Props out to all the heads at both Designers Republic and Psygnosis! over and out, brock np: the orb - 'assassin cubed' (which came with a DR sticker I lost 3 cars ago...)

It's probably easier to list the warp artwork the they haven't done. about 30 of 46ish albums and about 75 of the 85ish singles. They are opening a couple of exhibitions round about now actually: upstairs at the Blue Note, Hoxton Square, London. opening night is nest tuesday. and then at home in Sheffield at their (and our) most frequented bar type thing 'The Forum', starting near the end of December for two months, this looks like becoming an annual thing, after the successful 'new and used culture' exhibition there this time last year. worth a visit to either. g.

I have a composite proof of an early cover for their book, which I've had for almost 2 years, now. They've been working on it for some time, and the only reason it's delayed is the fact that they're sooo busy working on stuff that actually pays at the time! The book will be interesting, because they hope to include a poster or two, plus possibly a disk including some of their fonts. The book was originally supposed to come out in 1994, if I remember correctly. Ian.

Would have been better if they had used the same matt finish card as Catatonic, instead of the dull gloss that attracts those bloody fingerprints! Most of my favourite sleeves use matt finish, Jimi Tenor's LP, Durutti Column's LC, most of the Clear stuff for example. Makes the whole thing look a lot more attractive, I think.

They ARE working on this. They are also working on logo, shopping bags, etc for our shop, Shop33 in Tokyo. According to Ian, this logo will also be featured in the forthcoming book. I love their works as they are not bound in one style in their works. Peace.
