Damon Fairclough 03/12/96 10:05 Paul asked: >I've seen a new 2CD set called something like "The History >of Chicago House" personally picked by Marshall Jefferson. Would >this appeal to "Groovy, Laidback & Nasty" CV fans? "JAZ" <smileee@ix.netcom.com> replied: >...blah...blah... Not very IDM, but you asked. I don't see any relationship to Cabaret Voltaire. I would think if you like 'Groovy, Laidback and Nasty' then this House compilation would be right up your street. If you don't know the tracks or if you'd forgotten what they were like, I reckon it's probably the best House compilation you'll find. All that Chicago stuff was CV's immediate influence when they did that album (possibly because they'd signed to a major and were 'persuaded' to work in a more commercial style - this is just conjecture) - after all, most of the album was produced or mixed or something by Marshall Jefferson himself. I guess that 'Groovy...' is probably not a CV favourite on this list, but I like it. It's very slick, very Housey, part Chicago, part Sheffield (though more the former than the latter.) There was also a great Sweet Exorcist mix of CV's 'Keep On' released around that time too. Anyway... check it out for yourself. Hope this was some help. Damon. Damon.Fairclough@psygnosis.co.uk
