Last week, MTV re-ran the original AMP 3 days running (late Thurs./Fri./Sat.).
At first, I was happy to finally get a chance to tape it. But then after
watching both Thursday's and Saturday's re-runs, something was bothering me
but I couldn't quite put a finger on it. Was it the two interminably long
commercial breaks? (There were two commercial breaks that were at *least*
6-7 minutes long apiece, with at least 12-15 commercials in each one! The
breaks were so long that my S-VHS camcorder, hastily pressed into service as
a VCR for recording purposes, did the old "You've had me on ``Pause'' for too
long, so I'm going to shut down" trick. Sheesh!)
Well, yes, that was certainly part of it. But then I thought some more, and
it came to me:
WHO THE HELL TOOK OUT THE F.S.O.L. "Amoeba" VIDEO?!?
Unbelieveable. The nerve. To snip FSOL and substitute 6-7 extra minutes of
commercials! (Bad enough to snip *anything*, but FSOL instead of Tricky?)
And to think for a moment I thought that MTV's stated "new direction" might
actually be a Good Thing.
Meanwhile, in the Be Very Afraid Dept.:

(cspot's gonna love reading that one)
More Be Very Afraid Dept.:
Anyone see 120 Minutes? Matt Pinhead talks to Better Than Ezra (a generic
typical American post-Grunge guitar band) who gloat over their new Phil Steir
(Consolidated) remix and then proclaim that the Trip-Hop and Techno thing is
the "new Alternative" ... and then of course, when Orbital come on, Mr. Pinhead
shows that his oh-so-vast-and-vaunted musical knowledge stops at Cabaret
Voltaire when it comes to House/Techno/Trance ... yeesh.
