I got this back when it came out in Japan. More expensive than domestic :( but as a consolation gift, it did come with a small CD-ROM with QT movies of Ishii videos. The album is not too different from his output as KI - crystalline techno, B12ish with more minor-key melodies. A few tracks stood out, matching the best moments on Time Tourist, but I didn't find it too captivating. Actually, I just picked this up the other day. I remembered seeing James do a review of this release a few months ago but last week was the first time I saw it available in the states. And here's my review... Flare (Ken Ishii): Grip CD (Sublime-Japan) Ten tracks of down tempo experimental techno that is unlike his more straightforward techno material on R&S. This release utilizes complex polyrhythms, off-kilter melodies and unique sound effects. This is a great venture into melodic experi- mental techno and is, by far, my favoite Ken Ishii release. If you get a chance, check out the Dan Curtin Deception lp. It's another great Sublime-Japan release that features ten stellar techno-jazz tracks including two remixes by Ken Ishii and K Hand. -->-Lance--- p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

Any other Sublime stuff by Susumo Yokota? I've got the Ringo 2*12 and it's amazing melodically complex and groove filled. Any suggestions??? q ------------------------------------------------------------ Music is prophecy: its styles and economic organisation are ahead of the rest of society because it explores, much faster than material reality can, the entire range of possibilities in a given code.
