This is a code of Conduct for IDM'ers at IDM social events (also known as Concerts) It may have some elements which are pretty specific to Holland. 1. Arrive early. Not only is it possible to exchange notes and ideas about records or equipment, it also makes it easier to go up to the stage for: 2. Equipment check. Try to find out exactly what sort of equipment the performing artists uses. *Even* if it's Red Snapper (they still use effects). Discuss with other IDMers about choice of equipment. 3. If you make records, bring your latest release so you can give to [insert your favoriteWARP/Rephlex/ Clear/A 13/ etc. person], who is also there/coming along on the tour. 4. Do *not* go up to the band for a chat, they are already being bothered by a bunch of rilly hip journalists and industry bozos, and of course they do not want to talk to an interested fanatic instead. 5. You are free to dance or stand still, as long as (like Teep said) you are in the vicinity of the Front of House mixing desk. That's where you have the best sound and that's where all the other IDMers are. There is something to be said for right in front of the stage, because the monitors will sometimes give you good sound as well. 6. *Never* hang out near the bar. That's were the journo's / industry bozo's are when they are not backstage... 7. Clothing: IDM T-shirt, Blech/Warp T-shirts, Rephlex shirts, Eevolute shirts, Metalheadz shirts. No Djax-up shirts, those are for the trance freaks. 8. Drinks: mostly beer, some soda's. Beer is especially good when chatting up the Eevolute posse or Gonzales/Peel Seamus. Feel free to discuss entries / add entries / remove entries. off to work, Allert -- "No coropration will ever pay a creator enough to sue them succesfully" -Dave Sim, creator of Cerebus Allert Aalders - Big Time Concepts - allert@knoware.nl - KoX

Well, to give you a concrete example, when I was with Paul from Orbital a guy told him he had taped the earlier summer Boston concert straight off the sound board and had it pressed onto cd. Paul's response was, "Cool. Can I get a copy? That was a good show." Guy says, "Sure, I'll bring one to the concert tomorrow night." Phil Downey
