Hi All, I don't know if anyone's already reeviewed it, but I thought I'd send in a review of the new LTJ Bukem presents album earth volume 1. The album has been released (it says 'ere) to co-incide with the launch of Bukem's new label, Earth. It would appear that this label is on the jazzy/ hip-hop tip. Across 5 good quality vinyl slabs (don't you just HATE buying records on crap vinyl) there is more of the familiar ambient, washy, dreamy Drum 'n' Bass that massages your temples with its lush, liquid sounds and gets you moving with its TIGHT beats. The tracks like this are by Doc Scott, Pablo etc. But wait- there's more. Bukem has done a totally new track for this album, which muzik magazine described as 'trip-hop'. It isn't that, but it is REALLY jazzy and almost smoky (but not in the same way as Tricky et al) There are a few tracks by a new band called Poets of Thought. Again, jazzy, and easy, but not D 'n B and not Trip Hop I really would have to highly recommend this album- Particularly if you LOVE the logical progression stuff, and want to hear more of that alongside completely fresh and different Jazzy tracks. Oh, one other question: Has ayone got 'Boards of Canada' on SKAM yet? Is it worth a listen? Cheers, Richard W.

While I would agree, I would daresay that this compilation displays a music that has actually _progressed beyond_ the familiar...it's deeper, more intense, more complex, but still retaining the groove, the flow. It's a bit difficult to describe, but this compilation has blown my f'n mind on more than a few occasions...

I think the Pablo track is easily the highlight of the compilation. see description above. *intense*.

Bukem's track is great.."moodswings" is a very nice hiphop track built in his own style...

well, one is hiphop, one is very Latin, and one is drum'n'bass. These three tracks are worth the price of the compilation alone. an amazing debut, especially the comp-opener "Jamming The Session"...dub, soul, hiphop, funk...it's *all* there. not half-assed either. it's *really* all there. This compilation is in the running for album of the year -- along side its sister _logical progression_, Bukem has definitely made his mark on dance music. mikebee <mB.twenty-first century soul. <mikebee@freenet.tlh.fl.us.

speaking of the man. i just got logical progressions (us version) & noticed the times on disc a were off the mark, but that the times on disc b were accurate & that b is mixed whereas a is not. was disc a on the uk version mixed as well & things edited for US release?
