yeah - limited editon of 150,000 I hear:) , remember the ISDN fiasco , that was meant to be avaliable only once then deleted forever - but they reissued it with extra tracks!! , Fsol should donate the extra 4 quid to replenishing all the forests they cut down to print this booklet......good roach material though:) sm@ 4thworld uk *cutting edge mail order* http;//ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/4thworld

Well, FSOL originally wanted it to be "limited" to 100,000 because that was the the number of editions of the Beatle's "White Album," which, if you look at the re-issue of IDSN, is also lookin' pretty white. Had somethin' to do with parody and that whole "death of rock 'n rock" thang FSOL was all blabbin' about if you're the type to meticulously go through liner notes. The ISDN liner notes hinted at this, but lot's of people don't bother to read 'em... no@h . . . . . . ...

I figured that the ISDN album was back and white because they'd spent so much on the cover of Lifeforms (150,000 pounds, according to the www.pop.com interview).... John On Tue, 5 Nov 1996, Deckard wrote:

What's up with that weird Eurasian Lolita-girl who enigmatically scampers through various FSOL vids and record art? Is she the embodiment of their Feminine Earthchild New-Age Mystical Sensitive Side? Or is this some sort of perversion? What about child labor laws? Is it labor if it's fun? Is it work if it's completely unproductive? Is art work? Does art work? Does Art work? Is it art if it hurts? Is it French if it involves females before the (U.S.) age of consent? Is it pornography? Do we know it when we see it? What if we don't know it? What if we know it, but don't tell anyone? Well? Impatiently, Zenon M. Feszczak Sir Realist (supposedly writing on Gogol', and being drawn into these profound discussions instead; but I won't be able to sleep without answers).

nah - think reading between the lines is better :) , the truth was 'ISDN" never shifted as many units as EMI had hoped , so they wheeled out the album again under the vague cloak of a *concept* the cynic@4thworld records *cutting edge mail order* http;//ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/4thworld

Wait, isn't 100,000 copies an extremely optimistic estimate of the *total* sales possible for an FSOL record? Since when is selling as many records as you possibly can in your wildest dreams defined as a "limited" release? -Phil [----------] [---] [-----] [-----] [-----] [----------] [---] [---] [---] [---] [---] [---] [---] [---] [---] [---] [---] [---] [---] [---] [---] [---] [----------] [----------] [---] [---] [----------] [----------] [---] [---] [---] [---] [---] [---] [---] [---] [---] [---] [---] [--------] [-----] [-----] [---] [-----] [----------] Home is where the stereo is!

Well, kinda, considering everyone was freaking out over the *last* time FSOL put out a "limited" product of 10,000 even though that was sooo many at the time the velcro ISDNs were floating around for months and months after the release date. Nowadays 10,000 *is* getting kinda limited for FSOL since they're even more popular. So 100,000 is limited in the sense that it's not unlimited, but might as well be for all practical purposes.... ;) no@h . . . . . . ...

Yeah, probably so. However, my copy of ISDN (the black paper one, ASTRALWERKS 6144) says "a limited edition of 10,000 copies". Where did the 100,000 figure come from? was that supposed to be the white labeled version of ISDN? Ryan Vanderwerf amachine@pauls.net http://www.psiaustin.com/ryan

Well, i posted yesterday that FSOL *wanted* to have 100,000 printed, but due to various limiting factors this wasn't possible. This was supposed to be the number of the original velcro edition. The white ISDN came out later because even though FSOL didn't get their 100,000, they *certainly* wanted more than 10,000 out there. They're Top-40 don't ya know...? :) Papua New Guinea, Cascade, and Lifeforms were all in the UK's Top-40. Dead Cities will surely join them. no@h . . . . . . ...

A credit to the UK music-listening public. Here in the U.S., reading the Top 40 charts has been known to induce suicide attempts and catatonic states. Can you imagine: "Hi, this is Casey Casum with American Top 40! Today, at number 11, climbing up the charts from last week's entry at number 29, is the latest catchy hit from Future Sound of London - 'We Have Explosive'. These friendly English boys are at it again, and we'll have their mothers on momentarily to discuss their reactions to the surprising success of their sons' music - (mother's voice - "I still experience some difficulty in calling this music.") We just got a call from Molly in Intercourse, Pennsylvania, and she wants to dedicate this song to Biff. So, Biff, if you're out there listening, this one's from the heart! So here it is, the song that everyone's been singing, that spawned the greatest dance craze since "Macarena" - 'We Have Explosive'!" Syrupfully, Zenon M. Feszczak Ambientologist
