Finally got my limited FSOL at the store today (a week late! bleah! I
must be slippin'). Anyhow, don't know what everyone is so worked up
about. A little more danceable than lifeforms, but that's about it.
Sounds like...errr...FSOL. Song...ambient noodlings...song...ambient
noodling....ambient noodlings masquerading as a song...more ambient
noodlings. I mean I like FSOL and all, but in the age of Squarepusher
this seems a bit tame, don't you think? Anyone spot the sample from the
begining of Dead Cities? Lawerence Fishburne in Deep Cover (from the
director of Sister Act(?!) and the writer of The Player). Much more
excited about the new Aphex (of course). Totally fucking out-there.
Yellow Calx is beautiful. The last track has jew's harp, a church organ,
and those metal bar things they pound in malaysia. The cover is
mind-numbing. It'll probably be sold behind the counter in the US or
covered up with a warning sticker.
Oh, saw a copy of the original Jumpin' & Pumpin' Papa New Guniea in the
store today, must have been re-issued, right? It looked new. Also if
anyone is interested, I've found a mint (sealed in plastic) copy of
Hangable Auto Bulb that I'd be willing to trade for say, The Wagonchrist
At Amos EP, or Tusken Raiders Bantha Traxx, or the CD version of Empathy
Box (where did that go anyhow), in that order of preference. Mail me if
interested.
Peace out from the G-Spot,
