From the NME (sorry its formatted so weird). I know people where asking about this. Here you go: ORBITAL'S NEW YEAR REVOLUTION: ORBITAL crown one of the most successful 12 months in their six-year history with a huge New Year's Eve gig at London's Alexandra Palace. The duo, who headlined London Albert Hall in the summer, will play before 12,000 people as the climax of a 12-hour party organised by Universe, which staged this year's Tribal Gathering and Big Love dance music festivals. Their set is also being recorded by Radio 1, which will broadcast the show the following day. DJs billed to play at what will be the first dance music event at the venue include The Chemical Brothers, Paul Oakenfold, Sven Vath, Gayle San, Sasha & Jon Digweed, Mo'Wax boss James Lavelle and Jeff Mills. Live sets from top comedians and cinema screenings are also planned for the three-hall venue. Orbital's Paul Hartnoll said they had had a "Jim'll Fix It-like" year, with their last single 'The Box' reaching Number 11, their highest placing yet. He told NME the year had been "very busy" as they went out on tour as soon as they finished their album 'In Sides'. The LP entered the UK charts at Number Five and became their biggest-selling album to date, going silver in its first week of release. Hartnoll added that their gigs, which included 'V96' at Chelmsford and the Earth Energy Festival at Sutton, Surrey, had provided an even greater reward. He said: "We forgot where we lived sometimes, but from a musical point of view, there were so many gigs which made the year. The one in San Francisco with Underworld was pretty immense, but the Albert Hall was the real Jim'll Fix It moment. There were ushers opening doors for us, men with perfect hair saying, 'There's a young lady out there who says she knows you personally.' It was wild. It's always nice to play a gig on New Year's Eve, so we're really looking forward to the Alexandra Palace date." He added that the band would start writing and recording a new album early next year, but that their main New Year's resolution was to write a film score. "My father used to listen to a lot of film soundtracks. We'd be racing round the house listening to Ben Hur. Some of the best music in the past 30 years has been film music, from the John Barrys and Ennio Morricones of this world, so that's what we really want to do." Orbital also plan to release a live version of 'Satan' in January, recorded at a concert in New York earlier this year. The band are still deciding which other tracks to include on the EP. Tickets for the Alexandra Palace event cost £27.50. For more details, call Universe on 0181-963 0940.
