--- begin forwarded text Endemic Void : Equations (Language) Full-length of jazzy drum n bass with lazy horns and manic breakbeats. Already received 10/10 by DJ and others in the UK press. Nice. CD $15.99 --- end forwarded text ok forgive me if this has been mentioned since monday cuz i'm behind on my mail, but i'm wondering if any of you have heard this, and if so, can you give a better description of it than the above? the manic breakbeats sounds appealing, the jazzy part does not (jazzy d&b to me = start/stop-beated tracks which i can't stand.) tia. :) .joanna. --- joanna@hardcorps.org http://piglet.cc.utexas.edu/~joanna noiserotica.wednesday.mornings.3am.5am.kvrx.91.7.austin Noise pollution is a relative thing. my advice: stay away from Endemic Void if you don't like the 'jazzy' shit. they're in that live-jam-meets-breaks mold. . . but with the added ounce of greatness which comes from just being part of the Language crew. haven't heard the album yet - - but i've heard their cuts on the two _Miscellaneous_ compilations and their 12"s. excellent stuff - and they keep immaculate company: BioMuse, Si Begg/Buckfunk 3000, Phume, etc. There is an Elixir/Endemic Void 12" on Eve UK which is unmissable. Just too groovy, with jazzed-up Latin horns and flutes - and drumrolls as fresh as springtime. Records like this are a reason to keep facing the daylight. the breaks fly fast and furious, but they're not really manic. Roni Size is a good comparison... especially his Olive remix. a more D&B Red Snapper - or more junglized Kushti maybe (sans scratches). lush and vivid enough to resemble those Palmskin productions. very cool shit. . . but the 'j' in jazz should be capitalized.
