perhaps our definitions of r&b differ. let me just state that i believe
that endtroducing is possibly the finest hiphop album out this year thus
far. a love for the music and technique shaped this album into what hiphop
should be: music created for the sound and not as a playa's soundtrack.
"why hiphop sucks in '96: it's the money"
the sound is staight up hiphop genuine, with inventive avenues that peruse
genres beyond the usual sampling games... i'm all into it because shadow
doesn't borrow moods, he creates them. the whole is much more than the sum
of the parts, but trust me, if it was parts alone the record would still
slam. besides, doublespeed drumming creates the first punk/trip vibe i've
come across (chek: "stem/long stem").
plus, his "transmissions" satisfy my noisemusic fetishes.
of course, with miles clearly baiting the medium with a pointed remark about
ninja, salt his "review" to taste.
i say: buy.
