This appeared today on cybersleaze, which is a daily entertainment industry gossip column which is usually pretty fucking hillarious. Anyhow, see for yourself: NEWS OF THE WEIRD, MUSIC EDITION: Rock 'n' roll terrorists AAA - formerly known as THE KLF - are threatening to wreak havoc on a tiny English village - by activating their very own sonic device. The group, spearheaded by JIMMY CAUTY and BILL DRUMMOND, were in a "frontline defensive position" earlier today in Fairmile, Devon, with members of A30 Action, ready to defend trees, badgers and insects from destruction. They intend to active the device if any offensive action is directed towards them. The protestors, armed with two tanks and a sound systems, have vowed to "dance in the face of the legions of destruction." WE, on the other hand, remain confused as to what the hell they are talking about. (http://metaverse.com/vibe/sleaze/00latest.html) BTW, Alan aked me to tell you all that he does plan on updating and maintaining the Aphex and Rephlex pages. However the Mu-ziq page is now in the hands of Jason (cmac@txdirect.net), who will keep it up to date. Alan does want to know, however, if anyone is interested in maintaining the Clear pages at Hyperreal, as he has more than he can handle at the moment. If you are interested, e-mail me and let me know. The force is strong with this one, _____ / ,-,_) /,_) (/ RESH Live & Direct from the G-Spot, Orange County, California, USA

I think the KLF also borrowed that device to Panasonic's performances last year in England, but I don't know if the result was any messy pants then ;) Another question, of course, is it legal for a private person to own one of those sonic cannons - I think they were specifically created for police's riot troops. ekku the maintainer of pHinnWeb - everything u ever wanted to know about Finnish techno scene but were too afraid of the reindeer trerra@uta.fi | http://www.uta.fi/~trerra | http://www.sci.fi/~phinnweb you make your own heaven and hell right here on earth

As far as I'm aware, there are no restrictions yet in place for acoustic weaponry - at least, not on this side of the atlantic (not counting disturbing the peace!) I read a review, completely by chance, in some car magazine about Jimmy's two Saracen APC's and associated sound weaponry. From what I recall, they were 'only' packing something like 120 dBA but he was working on this. Something to do with the sound frequency and the pitch of the noise is what causes the discomfiting effect. He had sonic weapon mounted on the turret of one of his tanks, and it really looked mental! I think RDJ should get his tank outfitted in a likewise manner... I'm sure he do more than his fair share of damage with some of the nastier Caustic Window stuff... q are there any urls for info on any of this... especially ones that deal with poetic terrorism and the klf... By pressing down the special key it plays a little melody... --- some stuff I'm working on for Syntext Communications www.amproductions.com/ www.amproductions.com/Syntext2.html www.amproductions.com/N-Rage.html ---
