It isn't your normal Bill Laswell thing. As someone in the UK who hears a lot of drum n bass I don't rate it at all. Well I don't rate it as a collection of drum n bass tunes. However, I bought one and I like it. It explores the roots of DnB extremely well; heaps of dub basslines as you would expect from Laswell, and the occasional ragga like break. Musso was also involved in it, so theres some very nice EQ tricks in it. It's interesting, I play it a lot. But if you compare it against all the pure DnB out there, for example Omni Trio's new release, it just falls over and looks very sad. If it wasn't called Drum N Basss and it didn't have any Drum N Bass breaks in it, it would be absolutely stunning. Hope that made sense... er... I did try. Stray. 'Technique is Not Meaning'
