Thanks to all of you for your responses to my radio show inquiry. There were some nice ideas that you put forward but some of them are not practical at this time (phoning in ? : my current show is being taped on DAT and broadcasted at another time; send out mailing list with tracks ? : I don't have a clue who is listening to my show (except for people who show up when I dj at parties) ...) but I'll keep them in mind. On a further note, I would like to sincerely thank the people who mailed me offering promo stuff. If it fits, I'll play tracks of everything I get ! dv8 P.S. : Just gave FSOL's _my kingdom_ a first listen. Parts of it sound a bit too Enigma too me (as I said first listen on a shitty car stereo), while some bits are really jummy (I guess part 2 is my favourite for now, featuring fast funky-like drumbreaks). More to follow when I bury myself in my room this evening. P.P.S. : I taped the Dutch documentary (25-30 min) on D'n'B, featuring Squarepusher fiddling around with a SH-101 in his home studio and playing bass at the Big Chill, Photek in his home studio and driving around in his black nifty looking Ferrari, Source Direct in their home studio (impressing the female reporter) and in their BMW M3 cars. Quite a bit of great music (even Miles Davis) and a lot of showing off how great they are (not SQPR, but P and SD). I'll make copies for whoever requests them. I guess I've found the D'n'B I like : disturbed SQPR, but mainly Source Direct ... I guess there's no comp cd of SD tracks, is there ? P.P.P.S. : For our European viewers : French cable/satellite company ARTE will be showing an entire evening devoted to techno next week tuesday (I could be wednesday), with features on the love parade, the roots of techno (Detroit, Sheffield, Berlin, ...), interviews with artists (Autechre, Underworld, Sven Vath, ...) and much much more (over 3 hours in total). My VCR can't wait to start spinning !!! ARTE recently showed a two-hour show on electronic music and art (featuring bits of Kraftwerk), but I haven't had a chance to watch the complete show. dv8

If any of you guys are worrying about idm becoming popular and forcing you to rub elbows with normal people, have no fear. As I was waking up this morning to my alarm clock, the following conversation b/w Houston's KRBE radio DJs greeted my half-asleep ears: [...] RadioDJ1: At least it's not that Jungle stuff [some third person] listens to...naked monkey dance music..jungle, whatever. RadioDJ2: Yeah, just keep it in the jungle. Keep it in the jungle. RadioDJ1: Ok! Now back to the traffic report! And everybody wonders why I hate the radio! khannan suntharam kxs28972@bayou.uh.edu
