My advice would be to check out the pawnshops in your area.
You'll most likely find several excellent turntables for
negligible amounts of money. I've purchased two _nice_
tables (in near-mint condition) in the last year (for $25 and
$50 respectively) that listed for 5 (or more) times that amount
new. Just think about all the consumers who cashed in
their turntables when the record companies told them that
vinyl was dead -- the fruit of that marketing effort is in the
pawnshops. You may need to spend a few extra bucks on
a new cartridge, but you'll still come out smelling like
roses. Spend the money you'll save on some
nice new releases. :)
