This has really gotten to be a GREAT American label. Their original artists and reissues are uniformly tasteful (and, tasty, for that matter). The one that got me to write this note is... Rhythm & Noise: Chasm's Accord Asphodel 0965 Its an old LP from 1983 that originally came out on Ralph. I have an old vinyl LP, but I haven't listened to it in 10 years until I got the reissue. Its a cut-up and collage album of some noisy stuff, some nice beaty stuff, and a few ambient soundscapey thing-a-ma-doodles. The weird Ralph cover art is preserved, and a 20-page-or-so booklet details the history of the group. Apparently they mutated into most recently Sound Traffic Control??? This is clearly not commercial, yet Asphodel gives it a ceremonial release with fancy packaging. I'm delighted! While the music is more industrial at times than I now like, this stuff was ahead of its time. The group has been around in some form since 1969! The other stuff on Asphodel including the new DJ Spooky are all "well done" too. While not strictly ambient or IDM, I wanted to thank Asphodel for electronic music lovers of all types. jim ||| j a zachary ||| dr z ||| smileee@ix.netcom.com ||| http://have.a.nice.day.com "The internet is a good tool to use to get on the net." -Bob Dole
