Issue no.1 October 96 Isbn:nisbn The Jungalist (an occasional publication) Alright, are kids?! It's Do-One's jungle Top 5... five up-for-it tales from the darkside. The Brief (should you choose to accept it) Aim: to promote the appreciation and dissemination of hardcore tune-a-roomskies. Work required: (a) collect research material i.e. tunes; (b) submit to their terrifying demands (not less than 24 hours); (c) terrorise your family and friends with them at the fireside, like in the old days... * Ed Rush: Defect (No U-Turn Records) This B-side of the Mothership 12 takes a bit to kick in, but when it does it is 'the man who is telling you the way it is'. Be afraid...be very afraid. *The Terrorist: The Chopper, mixes by Ray Keith and Shy FX (Dread Recordings) A baseball bat-carrying 'tude of a tune! No self-respecting hardcore enthusiast should be bereft of it. Lets have some AGG!! *UFO: Volume1/Volume2 (UFO) Essentially two 12s but total value for yer well-earned bricks. Keyboards to keep you short of sleep at night, The Joker laughing at your pitiful pleas for mercy... even an alpine band on amphetamine makes an appearance. Entertaining... *The Advocate: You Talking To Me? (label unknown) "Please hang up and try again" says the operator, and you just know Mr. Aggravation is around the corner! A pumping, paranoid pugilistic tune... essential (and Mancunian) *Skyscraper: Liberty One, from Tech Steppin' (E-Motif Recordings) Builds and builds into a very imposing and large tune indeed. Bounce around the boudoir licks with ab-so-lutely no shame in any department. You know it ain't over 'til the fat lady sings. Backup: 3 close seconds. *Shy FX: Gangsta Kid, from Sound of the Underground (S.O.U.R) "Every once in a while I have to take a beating... everybody takes a beating sometime." * Sappo: Die Hard (Intalex Productions) "It's not just a job!! It's a fucking..." classic! *Asend and Ultravibe: What Kind of World? Asend remix (Back 2 Basics Recordings) Conscious yet storming. V. clean and pure like a mountain stream. Max respect: The Remedy Crew, the McBean, All fellow artists, All heads in general. Last Call: Live in Manchester, Thurs 10 October 96. Tunnel B1, feat. DJs ED RUSH, MARCUS and JAMAC. MC MAD RUSH> Club Code, 11-13 New Wakefield Street, MC. 236 4899. 10-3am. 5 quid/ 4 before 11+ NUS PS. If desired & reqired Further copies from The Do-One Level 2 visual arts & culture ( interdisciplinary area ) Univerisity of Salford, email to C.Robinson@visual-culture.salford.ac.uk Jungle and general dance related submissions gratefully accepted for issue # 2. thank you.......................transmission ends peace 10/96
