For those of you vainly scanning your London A-Zs, please note this is not happening in London but in NOTTINGHAM. There are other idm-related events happening as part of the NOW 96 festival: - Installation by Pressure Of Speech (with limited input from Scanner) called Incarceration @ Sandfield House, Mansfield Rd, 21-26 Oct - A Guy Called Gerald & Errollyn Warren with Buggy G Riphead visuals (the guy who did the FSOL Lifeforms vid) in a live networked Digital Club ('great' name, huh?) @ The Essense, 8 Nov - David Toop reads from Ocean Of Sound @ Broadway Media Centre, 29 October, 12 noon And on a promo tip:

The distribution chain for 'specialist' mags from the UK to the States is really bad, basically. We do get distributed over there (by Eastern News Distributors, tel 212 649 4484), but we have no control over which retailers it gets sold into, so we have no idea where it's actually available. You should be able to buy it in Tower in major cities, but after that it's pot luck. The best way to get hold of us at the moment, honestly, is to subscribe. That way you avoid import prices, you get it much closer to publication date, you get all free cover mount CDs, plus another free CD with first subscription. +------

You're half right. It's to do with arcane copyright and licensing laws which make it prohibitively expensive to issue the CD in the US. We wish it wasn't the case. Hi Rob, If thats's the case, how was it that I was able to buy the issue here in Los Angeles a couple of months back with that compilation CD on it? The one that came out afterwards (with the one that had stuff from just the one guy) didn't make it over here, but the other one did. (Now if only I could find where it ran off to ... ) - Greg

Dear Greg, I should have added a "usually" to that phrase "prohibitively expensive". In this case, the record company concerned (Big Cat) actually paid those inflated costs, cos they wanted you lot in the US to get hold of it. Most record co's we deal with won't cough up the necessary cash. Big up the Cat people!
