I've been giving heavy play this week to the new Warp Blech CD, especially the new Plaid track. It's a brilliant piece, called "Abla Eedio - unreleased mix," that has that vintage Black Dog Productions sound. Poly-rhythmic, eclectic, and delightfully complex. This track alone outdoes every track on "Music For Adverts." It proves, at least to me, who the real wizards were behind Black Dog Productions. With this taster, any upcoming Plaid material is a definite must have! Any release dates g? -->-Lance--- p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

Not really I'm afraid, they are definitely working on their Plaid album, but things have been delayed by their exploits with Bjork alas. :( Let's hope it doesn't turn into another "Advance" ;) g.

Hmm. I missed all the discussion of Music for Adverts. Can anyone point me to a review of this album? khannan suntharam kxs28972@bayou.uh.edu

You make a good point, Lance, but I wouldn't go so far as to say "the real wizards behind BDP" was Plaid. Yes, they have the rhythms and basslines down to a tee, and their well-crafted breaks will help anyone perfecting their breakdancing rountines get into their tracks, but they lack the emotional and feeling side to "listening music". You MUST have total control of both to be one of the most outstanding and long-surviving so called "IDM" groups out there. Ken would be proud. Brown-Nosing was unintentional... naah - don't want to get into a * Plaid v Black Dog* banal argument , but I think we will reserve judgment until the Plaid LP appears , Ken Downie produced the goods - when he was up against it - can Handley & co ? sm @ 4th world *cutting edge mail order* http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/4thworld/ "make the things occur that you want to occur"
