Just picked up the Wafta EP on Spymania. I need to listen to it a couple of times before forming an opinion on this, but from my first few listenings, I wasn't that impressed. Of course, I had to listen to it very quietly not to wake up the neighbors at 7:30 am... Well, anyone else have this? I'm wondering if Wafta isn't an alias for Squarepusher and someone else, or just plain old Sqrpr. It says "Wafta are: Martin and Hardy", but that never means anything, especially since the beats sound 110% exactly like Squarepusher and his style. This EP isn't as funky as his others, so there is a new turn being taken yet, but I'm not quite sure where yet. Need to listen a few more times. Andrew On now: Orbital--Steel Cube Idolatry (Dave Angel and Dave Dorrell Mutation) THE MISSION SAMPLE IS TOTALLY OFF THE WALL!!! (This is the first time I heard this--what a good laugh)

Wafta is not Tom but it is a mate of his. It's rather good IMHO last track on A(?) side is a killer. g.

after all that fuss over wafta ala 'is this tom jenkinson...' stuff a few months back (before i dissappeared for summer holiday)... i went back home, popped into my local vinyl supplier, found a copy, and took it to the counter.... 'oh' says the chap serving me... 'this guy martin is from coventry originally...moved down to brighton...' he added ...'really, not a lot of people in coventry making music these days... except for Gregory Flecknor (GFQ) of course...' i replied... 'yeh...but this wasn't produced in coventry anyway....it was done in london...' so, i assume, if this has not already been solved that hardy as credited for this record alongside 'martin' may be tom jenkinson.... thomas hardy?? was hardy toms school nickname perchance??? am i barking??/ paul

naah - Hardy is the guy that runs Spymania , Wafta is done with a geezer called Martin - watch out for Spymania 4 , from Martin titled 'Airtight' , I've been told by someone who has actually heard this on test press , that it is knockout (hi Matt!) , note no Tom Jenkinson involvement, put those conspiracy theory's away where they belong :) sm @ 4th world records uk http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/4thworld/

Would this be the same Martin who was(is?) mates with the Rephlex crew and did Universal Indicator Red, or is this another Martin entirely? Curiously, _____ / ,-,_) /,_) (/ RESH Live & Direct from the G-Spot, Orange County, California, USA
