I just got back from seeing Loop Guru, Meat Beat Manifesto, DJ Spooky and Jason Bentley at the American Legion in Hollywood. The show was really cool: DJ Spooky has to be one of the most fascinating musiction I've ever seen spin. He travelled from Hip Hop Beats to Old School Reggae and finished off with some Jungle spinning. Loop Guru were incredible...they have the energy and spirit to keep any crowd going, not to mention the fact that their muzak is fokin brilliant. I saw the bassist right before the show, but I was so fokin flustered I couldn't even muster the boldness to just say "Hallo, I'm a fan, and I think you're *fokin* brilliant". meat beat, hm... I like that music when Jack Dangers is busy playing something and not doing any vocals. I find it fascinating that a group so good could turn out wack shite simultaneously. Jason Bentley is good too. He finished things off, but I was exhausted and had to go home. David S.
