I was just in a Boston shop called "satellite". They have a very wide
selection of vinyl in the dozens of techno substyles. Their CD selection
is slightly limited, but at least it's limited to the best and latest.
They have turntables and CD players to listen to stuff before buying.
[I never would have bought Ken Ishii "Jelly Tones" without hearing it, but
I heard it, liked it and bought it. I also got to hear Cylobean Sunset
before (not) buying it. It was a little bit too minimal for me.]
The staff was more attentive and helpful than most DJs you run into, at
least while I was there. They are at 49 Massachusetts Avenue in Boston,
open 7 days a week starting at noon.
Disclaimer: I don't work there. I don't work anywhere.
