Hello, I saw this video on MTV-Europe, and i was wondering who the artist or band is. It's a 20+ minute song wich starts off as a normal pop song, but slowly changes into this great trancey dance tune, while the singer is constantley singing "weekender". It's not really idm, but i figured some people would know about this tune. I think it's an English band, about a year old i guess (the tune, that is). byebye, Collin (c.e.oosterbaan@twi.tudelft.nl)

That'll be the cockney answer to the Stone Roses - Flowered Up. The song is called - you guessed it - 'Weekender' Sorry no idea about record labels etc. Cheers Andrew C.

Ye haa - good call , the band is Flowered Up and the tune is called "Weekender" ,released 1992, a 13 minute version came out as a single, just as the band were falling apart , Andrew Weatherall also did a remix of it , released on 12" (Heavenly/Sony) , the band are now talked of through misty eyes by people who were part of the 89/90 explosion. This is one of our all time favourite tunes @ 4th world , Flowered Up were one of the first "rock" bands along with the Happy Mondays and Stone Roses to cross into club culture , even playing at legendary acid house club "Land of Oz" , their first single "It's On" (Heavenly 1990) it a fuckin classic , appeared on the cover of NME before they had even released any vinyl , "Weekender" for me defined a time in my life when as the songs says "No work Just Paaaarty Paaarty!!". The video as far as I know is still avaliable. sm@ 4th world records uk http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/4thworld/
