Ha ha! I remember doing the exact same thing a little while ago because of some other disk. :-) It turns out that Richard Brown is half (I think) of Outcast Productions. You might recognize them from those wicked remixes of Bjork's Hyperballad. I believe he has done some work with Autechre before though, and this is why I might have got confused... check Incunabula and I think his name is there. Anyway, they are seperate entities for sure. My friend has talked to Richard (that's how I got the confusion resolved...) and he sent her a bunch of demos. Definitely not Autechre. On an bit of a tangent... I just moved to the Seattle area and I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of some good record shops. Thanks in advance! Peter. -- http://www.csclub.uwaterloo.ca/u/povale/

This guy's driving me nuts! Richard Brown's credits Autechre: Assistance (listed only on Incunabula) RAC: Engineer Beaumont Hannant: Engineer Outcast Production: Produced/Mixed Those are the connections to Richard Brown I've found so far, and I haven't even looked very hard. The B. Hannant credit is the one that first made me confuse him with Rob Brown of Autechre...the main reason is that I find a lot of same elements in both groups music. I thought Rob Brown was doing a bunch of the production on the Hannant albums, thus the similar sound. Last night I looked at Basic Data Manipulations Vol2 and saw I was wrong again. Its Richard Brown! Ditto on the RAC and Outcast credits. I hope someone can shed some light on this Richard Brown character...I know he's listed as an engineer on a lot of this stuff, but I know plenty of "Engineers" that do ALL the work while the "Artist" sits in the back roling splif, noding their head and saying "that's wicked man". Whoever/whatever he is, he's doing good stuff and I want more of it. end of transmission, brock np: Muziq - Salsa w/ Mesquite

He's also recorded under his own name for Warp (Inventures in Wonderland LP or something, and a set of 12"s on his own or some other label). He has also recorded under the name Cherry Bomb (Lp on one of the GPR sub lables, as well as remix work for Beaumont Hannant)

Well I think most of his involvement comes from people using his studio (T.T.B), I think Hannants does most of his stuff there, and who better to operate to controls than the guy who knows/owns it.

Don't expect much from him on GPR or the sublabels for a while! Still there looks like quite a bit of existing stuff for you to track down. Warren
